Menoturals; Saturday Sounds

The Golden Whistler is a bird that I quite often heard... but am rather dumbfounded that I don't recall ever actually laying eyes on one! Their sound is fairly ubiquitous in bushy areas, so I really am at a loss as to why I could have missed it all these years. Oh well. There's time yet, I suppose...

  5. We saw Golden Whistler several times and it is quite a beautiful little bird. Rufous Whistler was a little more difficult to locate but we saw it too. Great Australian birds - but aren't they all?

  6. The Golden Whistler has beautiful feathers and such a pleasant voice.
A native bird here is a Carolina Wren, it is maybe a bit smaller. Recently while sitting on the porch, I FINALLY identified the beautiful song that I have heard forever. YEP the Carolina Wren was my bird feeder. He sang his approved to the seed for a very long time.

  8. Such a pretty little bird, it's odd you never spotted one - the colours are quite conspicuous. Maybe they like to be deep in the bush?

  9. There are a few birds I've only heard and never seen and those are often ones that are common to bushy areas. They also tend to be the smaller birds like warblers which just adds to the difficulty.
