What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

On August 1st, 1944, there was an uprising in Warsaw. Why so much attention on such a prolonged skirmish that resembled so many other similar all over the continent at that time? Increasingly that battle is considered by historians to have been a precursor to the Cold War, as there was so much manoeuvering and misinformation arising from the Soviet side and the delayed support of the allied forces. (Read more here.)

The history portion today is presented by Spartacus Olsen, who adds gravitas to what was a catastrophe for the Poles. Indy and Joakim then have a good discussion about the song arising from The Uprising (yes, I actually typed that. No apologies.) It is not comfortable listening, but nothing about war should be.

The music video is one of Sabaton's cinematic presentations and reflects that deeply disturbing aspect. Care should be taken in choosing to watch.

  1. That reminds me that I'm yet to watch 'Oppenheimer'... Wars are always painful. When will humankind become civilised enough to live in peace and harmony?

  3. Wow, the video is dramatic. You are so right that the topic of war is not a comfortable subject. Will there ever be a day that there is not a war happening? Take care, have a happy day and happy weekend!
