Menoizikul; Midweek Musicalisms

April! Struth, the year is already racing. Anyhoo...

As I have been oot and aboot once more in this Bonny Land, and as this is my birthday month, I figured a month of Scottish sounds would be appropriate. Let's start with a puirt-a-beul... mouth music. It's a little bit hypnotic. There are lyrics provided for you to sing along... 😂👍

  1. Loved the rhythm but couldn't make out the meaning :(

A lot of the time puirt-a-beul is nonsense rhyme and not intended to be much more than words upon which to hang the rhythm, so worry not about the meaning. (Though, sometimes the words were used to poke fun at some in the community or remember an event in a comic manner - but no one 'outside' needs to know that!) Yxx

  2. Something more familiar this month. Well done to any non-gaelic speakers who managed to read the words and sing along with correct pronunciation!
    Cheers, Gail.
