Menoizikul; Midweek Musicalisms

This month, I bring you AFROBEATS... you've heard some of this style of music here before. This month, a focus on a few of my faves. While lots of African countries have excellent music offerings, I am sticking to Nigerian artists this month, as the theme this year is countries I have lived in (or at least visited). I was in Benin City, Nigeria, from Sept 1977 to January 1980, when I returned to Scotland as my brother's responsible adult when he went to boarding school.

This first artist is new to my ear, but I like what I hear. This song laments the isolation caused by being at the top of one's profession and how, even though we can mingle, it can be hard to feel integrated...

  1. Very listenable. In recent years I've noticed a large increase in African faces in Aberdeen and was not surprised this week to learn that the city is now home to Scotland's largest Nigerian population.

  2. I like it, and this is one thing I do not have on my fret/worry list, never been at the top of anything. I did for many years worry about being at the bottom. ha ha...
