WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoturals; Nature Friday on Thursday

It's the start of another month, and I bring you some autumnal shots from beside the Clyde. This was a brunch stop at Port Glasgow after the early morning ferry ride (recall the sunrise shot last week?).

I have passed through Port Glasgow countless times and, somehow, never made the time to stop. It was almost always about getting on the road to Edinburgh to visit and attend Father. There was always going to be a 'next time'... The little lighthouses fascinated me all this time, and finally, I made myself park and walk along the promenade to capture them. The haar rising in last week's shot was well and truly in shrouding mode! Full colour still looks like monochrome!

That said, the walls of this three-hundred-year-old industrial building were full of colour and warmth. It is still serving its purpose and kept in excellent order.

The panels depict life along the Clyde, historic and current. The mighty river has transported more stories than all the holy books of all faiths put together...

Port Glasgow has the only remaining ship-building business (currently a bit controversial as the ferries for CalMac have been so very, very...very late, and now there is a government subsidy to keep the business afloat (no pun intended)).

This was the first weekend of September, and we had had a couple of very chill nights—enough to prompt the trees, and I saw the first signs of the turn and fall.

An upcoming Views post will include more shots from this place, as there is a rather special new art installation there.

To end today, though, I had mentioned quite a few posts back that I had a pile of bright summer flower shots to share on Nature Friday days with the LLB Gang... and then I forgot to add them the past few posts. Tsk...sigh... age, y'ken. Let me correct that omission...

  1. Good to see the colourful panels depicting former times on the Clyde, when the sky was always blue, apparently!
    Cheers, Gail.

  2. Looks like you have really captured the magic of Port Glasgow, especially with those lighthouses and the mood created by the haar. Amazing how places we pass through often reveal so much when we take the time to stop and look, is it not?

  5. The murals add a wonderful bright touch to an austere wall. Very pleasing, especially since they depict the history of the area, and a way of life, past and present. Here too fall is now well advanced and the leaves are mainly on the ground. The weather is still unseasonably warm, however.
