The nature part of this week's post is first represented by a cross-water scene to the islet of Craigleith in the Firth of Forth...
...and then by the four paws of our dear blogpal, Nobby. The FFF part of the post is about Nobby, too. I know that many of you miss him and have been waiting for news. I don't mind admitting that I've shed a tear or two when thinking about the wee fellow and how he must be wondering where his Gail has gone.
I was only made aware of the gathering when an invite came through on the Friday evening of that weekend, by which time I was committed to the Edinburgh trip you read about yesterday. It broke my heart that I couldn't be there to give Nobby a squeeze and ear scritchies - but after, I also thought perhaps it was as meant to be, for I am a little embarrassed at how emotional I am about him. Gail was always so generous in letting Nobby and me form our own relationship - as I said before, I am now minus two pals.
However, there is a little bright news. After a slightly false start, Steve and I finally had a conversation last week. Nobby had been back with him in Cumbria for a few days and was still very much at the settling-in stage. It will take them a while to get to know each other and develop a routine. Steve has expressed an interest in setting up a blog for Nobby's new chapter in life and, after asking a few questions about it, is now going to look into it. As soon as I have any more news, I shall be sure to announce it and provide a link to it from Nobby's old blog. As for my ever getting to meet Nobby in the furs again, it may not be too long away, as there is word of there being a memorial gathering for Gail in the new year, and I believe Steve intends to bring Nobby along. Some of you will also appreciate the news that Gail was buried in a woodland plot on the braes of her beloved Cairngorms - very fitting for a lady who loved all that was Nature.

Thank you so much for this post. Although it brought tears to my eyes once again when I think of Gail and Nobby, it was so good to see the little guy and to hear news of what has been happening. I hope you DO get to meet up and I also hope there is a blog sequel in Nobby's future. Please extend my deepest sympathies to Gail's family and friends at the memorial service.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this post. It brings both tears and smiles. It is so good to see our dear Nobby again (and not for the last time, I hope). Gail's resting place sounds very fine but I remain unreconciled to her loss. I can only imagine the vacancy she leaves in the lives of those who truly knew her.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the news of Nobby. I'm sure so many will have been thinking about him and wishing him a happy transition, poor boy. It will be nice to catch up with him again. It's good to hear that Gail has been laid to rest in nature. Her memorial service will be well attended. It seems so sudden, still.

I feel exactly what everyone else is feeling and commented on. So glad Nobby has a new home and I think of him also and fret a little over how he must feel. It takes dogs a while to realize this is my new home and some grieve worse than others. I pray for Nobby to adjust quikcly and for his new family to fall head over heals in love with him like all of us

ReplyDeleteThis is a story that has all the makings of a happy outcome, if that’s a correct term when the events are the result of a death. Much research has been done of late into the concept of death and how different animals relate to it. Nobbymay understand more than we know.

ReplyDeleteDear Me...thank you for the beautiful and I KNOW very hard post to write. I still find it so very very hard to realize Gail has passed. What a vibrant, kind and loving lady she was. I can only imagine how difficult it is for you having known and Gail, Bertie and Nobby in the flesh. I continue to say prayers for you and all who knew Gail. What a lovely resting place for Gail. I googled the area. It gave me comfort to know she is nestled amongst the things she loved.
Steve is a season K9 lover. I recall when Gail and Nobby visited Steve and his wife in July...there is a beautiful garden outback. I've said this often...Gail socialized Nobby from day one...she made she he was surrounded by lots of love and gaiety. Dogs (unlike us) live in the moment. Nobby will soon realize he is HOME and will make his new people and home HIS.

ReplyDeleteI've never met you nor did I meet Gail but have followed your adventures as reported in your blogs for some time. It was meant to be that you be present at her passing. What a wonderful friend you are/were. It is hard to think of Nobby without Gail so thank you so much for news of him.

Oh I am saddened by the loss of Gail but so glad to see Nobby is with people who love him ~ I only knew Gail and Nobby through her blog ~ It would seem that Steve and spouse will be the caregivers for Nobby?
