Welcome to another year of musical exploration. This month, you will listen to items provided by a guest selector. Joni is a long-term reader of this and many other blogs, though she doesn't blog herself. She reached out a few years back to form a pen friendship, and I have enjoyed many eclectic reads and listening to her various links to subjects she thinks may be interesting. Joni is also responsible for the first film offering of the year, which you will see on Friday.
The emphasis of this month's choices is jazz. I am not particularly fond of this genre, but I appreciate its musicality and am ready to air a few of its gems. For example, I am not immune to a decent sax sound. Joni introduced me to Anat Cohen with this piece, the title of which seemed somehow fitting to start the year off...
Now, I hope that you will enjoy the very different sounds that will be coming your way this month.
If any of you would like to have some of your favourite listens featured in a Menoizikul post, just let me know! If you don't already have my email, you can contact me via the form at the bottom of the Linktree listing. It would be a joy to have you share some of your music here.
I like the way we can more easily try new musical sounds these days - Jazz is not my favourite, but I gave it a go!
ReplyDeleteHave a great New Year! Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Hello YAM,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the music that you have been sharing.
Happy New Year, I wish you and yours all the best in 2025!
This is punishment! Let me know when you are going to feature the slow movement from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, or Schubert’s Trout Quintet, or any of the Chopin Nocturnes. I could go on but that’s enough!

DeleteI am going to take that as a volunteer to 'guest post' for muscalisms, David - so watch out in February!!! (Either give me a fourth choice, or await the surprise offering...) Yxx
Okay….any of the Beethoven string quartets, or even that old chestnut the Moonlight Sonata.
DeleteI like to be positive but I honestly didn't enjoy this one. Happy New Year, YAM!
ReplyDeleteWonderful... Happy New Year 2025, Greetings
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed listening to it!
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwww YAMaunty I too am very happy to say Joni is a very lovely friend and such a great pen pal. Sends lovely notes and photos. Angel Aimee the Airedale is very much missed.
ReplyDeleteThis is new to me music as is the artist. I don't listen to much Jazz. I do like Harry Conick, Kenny G. I do really like Sax, clarinets, guitars
Hugs Cecilia
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI think you would enjoy Aster's bass clarinet. She is having much fun with it.

ReplyDelete(Stonehaven Folk Festival’s World Paper ‘n’ Comb Championship to be one of BBC Radio 4’s Christmas Centrepieces)
Cheers Hilary .... PS I do not want to feature with this ... or any other musicalism ... as it's not my forte - thank you!!
May you have a magical and musical 2025! Lee and Phod and their peeps
ReplyDeleteOoooOoOOoooo Nice Jazz! I do like Jazz. Our piano teacher (when I was a kid) was a local Jazz musician, he also taught a friend of mine Jazz trumpet, thus Jazz music always brings back happy memories. Happy New Year and I LOVE films! Can't wait for Friday! Keep being awesome. Barb
ReplyDeleteI only listened to half and it is jarring and disruptive and I can under stand the title, its sound like the chaos of my past few months of LIFE
