Menonday Art Vibe; Sacred Strokes

This is the sort of painting one might expect to find in an ancient sacred building. It is exuberant yet ethereal. I was drawn to it because it appealed to my spiritual nature and because it was connected to another work by the artist for the "Edinburgh Sick Kids" mortuary chapel. This caused me to remember my late niece fondly, for she had more than her fair share of time in that hospital. I also appreciated that the artist herself donated this work to the gallery in the year of my parents' birth.

Does this style of artwork appeal to you? Is there an artwork you have seen that moves you with emotional memories?

  1. I like to try some spiritual or religious type of art, with my own hand.

  5. Bob was also born in 1936, same as your parents and this bequest. nothing comes to mind right now, of one that might have brought emotional memories to me. it might appear later, or not.

  7. Robert Bateman, surely one of the best and most passionate wildlife artists of all time, has a painting called “Coyote in Winter Sage.” This magnificent animal is shown in this wild, ancient habitat, harsh and unforgiving - and in the picture there is a beer can. This affected me deeply when I saw it at the Bateman gallery in Victoria, BC. It filled me with both rage and deep, deep sadness. Even the memory of it makes me seethe with anger. Humankind is without a doubt the worst thing ever to evolve on this planet. Thankfully we will soon be consigned to extinction, largely of our own making, and the Earth will begin to recover. And to think what might have been….

Oh, thank you, David, for bringing this artwork to attention! I looked it up and it is gorgeous... and found this delightful snippet of video with Bateman himself describing the work. I complete understand your ire... never a park up goes past without me having to do a litterpick prior to departure. Just a tiny effort against a tsunami... Yxx

  8. Colourful angels! I've never encountered them depicted in anything but all white. Beautiful, and interesting.
    Have a great week ahead.

  9. Your introduction makes the meaning of the pieces clear. Though it's obvious they're religious works, certain details wouldn't be clear without that introduction.

  10. YAM to first answer your question...this beautiful art would be the one I'd say speaks to me. My goodness
the frame surrounding the breathtaking art and anything with the Trinity.
The connection with the Maestro and your parents
    Hugs Cecilia
