Next month's picks are prompted by Mad's Mom, Miss Cecilia. I am going to fill April, as it's my birthday month - but am ready for someone else to shout of for May's music choices!!!!!

David's throwaway suggestion of a fourth item for this month is 'that old chestnut, the Moonlight Sonata'. Well, that got me! It is perennially fresh to my ear and definitely not chesty... though, as any of you who learned piano, as I did, know, it was 'nutty' to play. Sixth grade, first movement only. Seventh grade, second movement if you have mastered the first. The third movement - well, I never got that far! Let's see off Fearbruary with this pearler of a performance from Daniel Barenboim. Watch the hands on that third!!!

it has something of being alone but not lonesome
ReplyDeleteDreamy
ReplyDeleteI have only heard the first part, very familiar, have never heard the rest of it it, beautiful and soothing
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely piece and those hands are certainly busy!
ReplyDeleteHello YAM,
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty piece, thanks for sharing. Take care, enjoy your day!
Thanks for this version, YAM, with a very young Daniel Barenboim. Many people have heard the initial strains of this much loved piece and don’t know its origins. I will listen to it again later. He plays with such sensitivity. If you get stuck for May let me know and I’ll be happy to fill in again.
ReplyDeleteA lovely version in a most gorgeous setting.
ReplyDeleteWOW March is marching in quickly.
As you know from my selections it will be different but I hope as enjoyable to all
Hugs Cecilia
So very mesmerizing!
ReplyDeleteTruly Amazing, Great to listen.
ReplyDeleteYES! Loved it! I heard recently that Daniel B is ill and had to cancel things. I don't exactly but I think he has parkinson's.
ReplyDeleteHi Yam - looking forward to your birthday month's suggestion. I wrote a WEP story based very loosely on this music ... the Sonata rests easily in our minds ... never to leave - and here we're hearing the best - cheers Hilary
