Menonday Art Vibe; Dimendium
Although the notice comments on the manipulation of dimensions and perspective in this rendition of St Bavo's Haarlem, I think it is subtle enough not to distort. I stood and gazed for quite some time at this work. It drew me in as one who enjoys visiting large architectural spaces, particularly of the sacred variety. I could feel myself standing as if in the building itself, and to know that this place still stands relatively unaltered warms my being. Sadly, my photograph does little credit to the painting - if you would like to have a less reflection-affected, less tilted look, you can have a gander at this link on Google Arts and Culture.

Looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteAmazing was the first word I thought. this is stunning and I would have stared at it too. one of our largest museums here has benches placed around the rooms for people to sit and stare at the paintings. my son and I wonce sat in wonder for about 20 minutes staring at huge, wall sized photos taken in black and white. like we had to absorb the beauty. this one has that ability. that ceiling is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful painting and a gorgeous church! Take care, have a great day and a wonderful week ahead.
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly impressive in a cavernous sort of way.
ReplyDeleteTruly Amazing

ReplyDelete17th century architecture! Amazing especially when I looked at the other pics in the link you've given.
