What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menonday Art Vibe;

I have spoken before of my fondness for sculptured works. My tastes, though, tend more to the modern and abstract than the more classical form depicted in this piece. However, I was drawn in by the lustre and smoothness of the marble. No sign of any chisel marks or hammers. The soft gleam is appealing to the eye, and the variations in shading in the stone give a further reality to the figures.

Would I want to own something like this? Not at all. This doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the artistry, the skill involved in its creation.

  1. While the finish the sculptors of marble achieve will always amaze me, I'm with you on whether I would own such a piece (even if money and space suggested it).

  6. Probably a little over the top in the hall right now, but when I have my faux Grecian mansion designed and built it will be perfect!

  7. I am with you, amazing gifted and talented artist to create it and I knew it was a man artist before I scrolled down to find the name... I am also with you on the modern more than the realistic. I might put a schuprute of a Highland Coo in my yead. ha ha.....

  8. It's a gorgeous sculpture but I wouldn't want to live with it either plus it would never fit in my house!

  9. I do like the name 3 Graces. They all have quite peaceful looks on their faces and they are gracefully posed.

  11. So beautifully sculpted. Although I am a fan of classical sculpture...Unless I had a big courtyard, I can't see owning a piece this big.

  12. We agree. That piece is not something we would likely have in our home, but the beauty of the artistry is impressive.
