What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

First Friday Filmclub - Home Movie

Some of you might like a couple of minutes of peace and quiet, as well as a home-life sort of thing. Some of you might not, and that's okay, too. Move along. I wanted a slightly dressier shawl and beanie for going out to the concert at Rosslyn. I had bought the yarn (Sirdar Jewelspun) at the quilt show in Glasgow. I had the accent glimmer yarn in the stash. Those interested can find the pattern here at Moogly. I made up the beanie pattern myself. It was very quick to make (three or four evenings) and was much admired.

  7. Well done. Is there a reason you need to wear headgear inside?

Yes, David, I suffer from extreme cold sensitivity on my crown - now more pronounced as I have the balding gene and am quite sparse on top. I have cotton headgear for the summer! Yxx

  10. That is a beautiful shawl and cap. The colors are so pretty and vibrant. I am currently working on #1 afghan of two to go. They will be for the graduating twin grands, boy and girl, one headed to Baylor and one to Creighton to join her older sister. It is keeping me quite busy.

  12. There is a real pleasure in making things yourself - be it a hat or a bit of fishing tackle. I think people are forgetting this.

  13. The glimmer yarn is a wonderful touch! It was fun and soothing watching someone masterful at knitting. I'm terrible at it. However, I absolutely adore the one project I did that was a success - a bag that was meant to be felted when it was finished. All my mistakes and dropped stitches magically disappeared.

  14. We LOVE this! Mom's (and our) furrend Mary makes the same hat! We shall have to get her some glimmer yarn (when we can get to the big city). Keep being awesome! Marvelous Marv
