Menoizikul; Midweek Musicalisms

This week is celebrated Sri Hanuman-jayanti - the birthday of the loyal monkey lord who teamed up with Sri Rama in his search for the beloved Srimati Sita, who had been stolen by Ravana.

Every Hindu learns the chalisa, right from childhood. It is sung not just for the re-telling of the story of Hanuman's many feats, but as a reminder of how we fund the great coping mechanisms of life; determination, courage, integrity, loyalty, honesty and, when we need it, strength... but most of all, Love with the capital 'ell'! With Hanuman's support and devotion, Sri Rama was able to retrieve Sita and overcome the evil forces of Ravana. For the keen, you can see a translation on this link.

  1. it sounds relaxing and fresh the same time... like a morning where we look over a silent place what still slepps

  2. When I was in Delhi, I used to see students carrying a booklet titled Hanuman Chalisa. They used to pray particularly in exam time.

  5. Both excellent singers in their own right. Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated this Saturday. Happens to be my late father's birthday as per the Hindu calendar. 🙏
