Menoizikul; Midweek Musicalisms

I mentioned that this month's music is folksy as inspired by the television comedy-drama called The Change. Yes, it's about what hits a menopausal woman... but it's so much more. Including land rights and environmental concerns, culture and ... roots.

This song appeared, albeit briefly, in the show. It's a throbbing, fighting song of territory... or as one review put it, "Common Ground is a hard-driven 5/4 number telling the story of the constant erosion of people's rights through the gradual enclosure of their common land: a familiar enough theme in folksong, but here with the twist of a commentary on how we are complicit in our own suppression. It's powerful stuff, and Nicola's harsh, earthy, "native" lead vocal (with harmony from Fran Kempster) gives the statement its ideal mouthpiece."

Addendum Wed Morn.... Just played again myself and discovered this player insert will move on to other tracks - up to you, but worth continuing to listen!

  4. The strange (to me) accent is a little off-putting, I find, and while the music is not to my taste the message is certainly powerful.

  6. YAM
I'm running late this morning we had a new fridge delivered (after 2 1/2 months of waiting), Delivery and removal went well just a few hiccups. One guy will be back after 5pm to finish with the icemaker. WE have had an ice maker for 50 years and use it all year long. I reallly have missed it especially with the 90's coming this weekend with feels like 100.
Needed a part that wasn't with it.
    Hugs Cecilia
