Menokreatikkul; Saturday Stitches

Last week, Miss Cecilia over at My Mind's Eye blog, decided to join in on the idea of sharing stitchwork on Saturday.

This tickles me, and I am happy for anybody else who stitches in any way to join the party! You are welcome to download the badge and all I ask is the usual courtesy of linking back to my blog when you make a post using it. If you do a post, it would also be nice if you put a link to it in your comments here to advertise it.

Crochet is my bag, but you don't have to hook to be part of this. It might be knitting, tapestry, embroidery, patchwork, quilting, dressmaking, weaving... heck, there are so many textile arts, why not show us some of your work?!! Don't be shy. You can choose to share Finished Objects (FOs), Works In Progress (WIPs), or Wishful Thinking For Future (WTFFs...) You might opt to share some of the technical terms and methods, or tell us a little about the tools and yarns/threads/materials used for your craft.

Talking of bags... this week there was just one wee, very quick little project. My sissy was carrying a small workbook for her collage scrapping work, not much bigger than two fingers. It could damage easily in transportation and she was wrapping it in a bit of scrap cellophane. I immediately saw a purpose for some of my stash yarn. It's a sport weight (#2) and requires patience. I opted for a 2.5mm hook to keep the stitching properly tight so it will hold shape when in use. The yarn was part of the inherited batch from my late mother, so could well be nearly as old as myself... it is a two-thread mix of pure wool (the brown) and cotton (the orange). The resulting fabric is firm, but not at all abrasive to the touch. I'll get a photo of it in use for next week!

  1. It is a good idea to share the progress. That sort of helps you to stay committed to the project.

  4. Nice hooked pouch. I wonder if we were all given the challenge to make a book protector of X dimensions (no other rules) what variations you would get.

  5. What a cute little bag! I knitted for years and would continue to do so if I had a project that needed doing.

  11. That was a great idea. The pouch would be convenient for so many things, including the workbook.
