As for the second... well, I leave you to read the label and decide whether you think this of interest. Also known as Perruque or Mosshead, the condition mostly affects Roe Deer, although it has been occasionally found in other deer species. It's a malformation caused by excess velveting and the inability to form keratin. Those who manage deer herds will cull such animals to cut down on possible genetic mutations.

Menonday Art Vibe; Curios
Today, I bring two images that are not, perhaps, visually appealing in the traditional sense. However, they do offer artistic interest. The first, as mentioned in its label, was the prep for an etching piece.. I didn't photograph that end product because, frankly, I didn't like it as much as this wall piece. Talk about shades of grey!

the first piece of art looks somewhat heavy
ReplyDeleteLiked the 1st painting and the 2nd looks scary!
ReplyDeleteAs Dora said, the first painting looks like a carved work heavy. Shades of grey indeed.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I like either of them and the wig-buck looks like something out of fantasy.
ReplyDeletewow what a story about finding it back after so much years.. the bucks really exist, they have a hormone problem this poor guys....
ReplyDeleteYou wonder how that wig-buck can hold up his head with all of the stuff growing on top of it.
ReplyDeleteIntellectually interesting, but aesthetically not so much!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not my favorites, I like the buck to look natural. Take care, have a wonderful day and a happy week ahead.
ReplyDeleteHi Yam - I was interested about the Towner ... at that stage the gallery was situated in a local manor house before moving into the especially built art gallery. Re the 2nd one - it reminded me about Arcimboldo and his extraordinary art works from the 1500s ... love the name wig-buck ... great - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThat deer looks like he's wearing a fancy hat the British Royals all wear to special occasions. Both paintings are very interesting.
ReplyDeleteYAM surprisingly I liked the first one better than the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
The detail in both pieces is extraordinary...but the second one is very disturbing (to me)
ReplyDeletethe artists are gifted and super talented, but these are a no for me. they are really interesting though
ReplyDeleteIsn't that interesting!
