Menonday Art Vibe; January Jester
This is the sketch for a tapestry design that the artist would have created... and the only other one I could find anything of was April. In the normal run of things, this would not be of particular interest to me. However, first, January is Mac1's birthday month, so we paid it some attention for that reason. Secondly, there was use of a gold pencil/marker that raised the quality and interest to another level... hence my little close-up, as the main photo doesn't really show it. Thirdly, the concept of showing the pursuits of each month appealed to one's sense of social history. Clearly, here, even walking the dog had to take place indoors!

sorry caps lock played a trick ;o) its a special art work and we love the details... the two faces of the jester, the pup under the table... and the look of the woman on left side... she is not impressed or she just saw an enemy?
ReplyDeleteA very interesting post from which I learned a great deal. One can only hope the patrons gave the artist a commission after all the work that went into this design.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely piece of art! Being a dog lover, the dog is one of the first things I noticed. Take care, have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful art... the hints of yellow are most interesting and the dog's play bow adorable

So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece...I do like the way the gold paint/marker highlights the tapestry.
ReplyDeleteThe piece is wonderful as is the dog with his hiney in the air.
ReplyDeleteI Love the sketch and the fact that there 12 from the Master of the Months is intriguing.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting piece of art. Would have loved it if the tapestry was still around.
