It's
Nature Friday again! I bring you a slightly offbeat connection to nature, though you are perhaps not so surprised about that, given how offbeat I've gone already lately!
First...summer's on the way!!!
Really, nothing screams summer quite so much as a bowl of juicy, luscious berries... am I right? I'm a real berry fiend, but golly, I am noticing how the prices are getting silly for such produce... but that's a whole other discussion.
Next, I spotted a Hooded Crow while parked near The Hutch earlier this month. There are quite a few around now, whereas they used to be found much more north of there.
The RSPB now shows them as being resident right down the west coast of Scotland, all the way to the Solway Firth. They are attractive Corvids.
The next three images were taken on my latest visit to the National Gallery of Scotland for the Open exhibition. There were many video installation entries, and Mac1 and I thoroughly enjoyed the eight or nine videos that we watched. In particular, there was a 20-minute film of coastal Scotland, showing all the rocks, the tides, the vegetation, and the fauna—it was positively blissful!
...and here is where I remind all of you who like joining in, that next week is also Final Friday!!!
Good shots of the berries and the crow!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a hard time getting past the berries!
ReplyDeleteoooh the berries.. have a berry good friday ;o)
ReplyDeleteHi Yam - yes berries, cherries and asparagus - the season of delight!! Love the thought of those films about the coasts - they do look idyllic - cheers and happy weekend - Hilary
ReplyDeleteyummy looking berries, I love them too.. I love fruit, and buy mine frozen for my smoothies and the price is climbing rapidly
ReplyDeleteBerries looks great, Beautiful post ad pics
ReplyDeleteThe berries and cherries look so yummy and yes, the prices are ridiculous! Love the video pictures!
ReplyDeleteHooded Crows are very smart indeed and remind of time spent in their company when I visited Scotland several years ago. As for the berries, perhaps on your peregrinations, YAM, you will find patches of wild blackberries and the like, and you will be able to stain your fingers and drip juice from your lips without spending a penny. The videos of coastal Scotland must have been exquisite. There is magic along coastlines for those who care to see it. Have a great weekend. David
ReplyDeleteThe berries look delicious! Love the Hooded Crow photo. Great images of under the sea! Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the price of berries....sheesh!!
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how beautiful the "underwaters" around Scotlad are!
YAM strawberries and raspberries top my list of favorite RED (MOL) fruit followed by blue berries, grapes and bananas.
ReplyDeleteI have never jumped on the Fresh Cherry train but I just might do that. We have lots of local strawberry farms here. They seem to be the best prices but even they fluctuate.
The museum was lovely.
Hugs

Different types of berries, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteBerries look nice! Here during summer, the craze is for mangoes, a number of varieties of them; and water melons!
ReplyDeleteThose berries look tasty. It's a few weeks from berry season around here though.
ReplyDeleteThe fruit is making my mouth water! Yum! I saw a sign for a fruit stand along the road earlier. It will be open soon. Can't wait for strawberries and ice cream, with a little angel food cake.
