The first was a largish piece; I would have it on my wall in a split second!
I just adore the muscularity and sheer presence of the cattle, as if one were standing directly there with the herd. For the most fleeting of seconds, I had a glimpse of the urge that might engulf a less restrained character to lift it from the wall and run!
I had hoped there would be a simple print postcard in the gift shop at the end, but no—not of this one. There was one of the next image, though, so I did buy that.
Have you ever seen a gallery work that you felt so thrilled by that you wished you could own it? I mean, I do collect original works, but I am talking about this type of historical, great works sort of thing...
Big fat yes to your question. Not happening in this life though. :)
ReplyDeleteyes... emil volkers horse and rider... we had a copy at home and the horse looked like real...
ReplyDeleteThe skill needed to produce such pictures is remarkable. I on the other hand can hardly draw a straight line with a pencil and ruler!! Cheers - Stewart M, Wilsons Prom National Park, Victoria
ReplyDeleteHello Yamini. So glad to visit today. A treat of a day. Love both the artworks you've shared. I concur with you about the cattle--masterful.
ReplyDeleteI was smitten by Van Gogh's 'Almond Blossom' once. The poster brings me joy every time I look at it.
Maybe there is a hint of art thief in all of us, YAM!
ReplyDeleteHello YAM,
ReplyDeleteWonderful art, the cattle art work is my favorite. Happy June, have a great day and happy week ahead.
Love the lion!
ReplyDeleteWowsers! I can understand why these two are your favorites. We are in the midst of planning a trip to Italy and I am looking forward to seeing some authentic renaissance originals....which I know I'll have to restrain myself from running away with. lol
ReplyDeleteThe lion is awesome but would not want that on my wall but I sure would grab the Cows and run if I could. Wow! it is really amazing and 'speaks to my heart'... yes, I have seen art that I would love to own, but most of it was so big, I don't have a wall big enough...
ReplyDeleteLove the cows abut OMCs that lion is magnificent

The cows looks nice, but the lion a bit terrifying! I do admire the skill of artists and their work. But I haven't ever felt like owing any gallery!
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, I would not want either one of those drawings hanging on my wall. Having been to the Yale Art Gallery years ago, I would love to have one of their highboys sitting in my home.
ReplyDeleteThose are both beautiful works of art. Maybe if we won the lottery we could buy something like those.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lion-man? Did the artist mean it? Or because he had never seen a live lion?
