My mother had a very long lived one of those plants that used to occupy the centre of the lounge-room coffee table above which the visiting fantails would sit in the branches of the light fitting - and relieve themselves of digested flies which they had gathered up.
Excellent quote. It's an oxalis, isn't it? I've heard this variety referred to as a "butterfly plant" (which your photo nicely illustrates).
