Mainly, I was spending time binge-watching and listening to catch up on stuff that falls behind when I am on the road.
Telly series, such as The Gone [4 *], Darby and Joan [3.5 *], Recipes For Love And Murder [4.5 *], Outrageous [3.5 *], Shardlake [3 *], Annika [4 *], Fake or Fortune [5 *]... to name a few!
I had all my usual podcasts, but there are some new ones added since the last time I shared them with you.
Grace Dent's Comfort Eating. Those things you like to scoff when no one's looking.
Luke Lamana's Redacted. Some of it you know - or think you do...
The Spy Who... true tales of derring-do.
The Crime Agents. A crime reporter and a retired, high-ranking police officer debate and narrate policing in modern UK.
There have been a couple of other limited series as well, but because I've dropped the links on completion, I don't have them to share. Naughty YAM.
One that is absolutely fun and binge-worthy, though, is Sherlock and Co. I have been working my way through all the series, and am now going to join up on that Patreon link, because they are that good!
Using the premise of podcasting as the 'diary' of Dr John Watson, we are introduced to a beautifully voiced Sherlock Holmes (actually, both actors are not dissimilar in tone to Cumberbatch and Freeman, if you watched those tele-films). The 'Mrs Hudson' character has a twist... and there's a dog. It is doing for the sleuthing classic in podcast format what Elementary did for the televisual Holmes and Watson adventures. Brilliant mayhem. I cannot recommend this one highly enough.
To end this interim post (between road trips, that is), a wee video. I mentioned last week the foul weather that hit the Cowal coast... Mostly, Dunoon is reached via ferry. However, for many locals, the road route is just as busy and there is only one route in and out. It has been a source of local disgruntlement forever...
It's really tricky with only one road. That's happened to us in various spots. Good to read how you are doing! XX
ReplyDeletewow not easy to drive... I always try to avoid one road roads...

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteSherlock and Co sounds interesting. The landslides are scary, they do need to make the road safe for drivers. Take care, have a great day!
I love Fake and Fortune and I haven't seen it for awhile and I will check out Hulu and see if I can watch Sherlock and Co. The landslides are awful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this cameo into the Scottish accent! That alone created entertainment for many of us. A permanent solution? We are dealing with politicians here so “permanent solution” is a highly misunderstood concept.
ReplyDeleteI have put Sherlock and Co on my "to listen" list!
ReplyDeletefirst let me say, I Loved hearing all the voices and speech that sounds like music to my ears. from what I can see here there is certainly no easy fix to the problem. It seems to me, its like all the people in Florida who chose islands, and beaches and swampy land to build in. you build there, you suffer there. its been going on for hundreds of years, people building in places that can be swamped, or landslides, sorry land slips, and wondering why someone doesn't fix it.... on our beaches the storms come and wipe out homes and shops and people beg for help getting sand put back where nature removed it.
ReplyDeleteI am rambling... stopping now...
That road looks like living around here or Northbank Wairau. (except we don't have a ferry option or a long way round). Authorities lay on a barge for a one trip only transport of cars and then locals have to use a water taxi to commute between home and car - parked somewhere in civilization!
ReplyDeleteSigh, here I have to have a subscription to hear most of Sherlock and Co....Well, some episodes are free...It has been a while since I checked out the different podcast cannels I have downloaded, I shall have to check. I LOVE Fake and Fortune! It has been a favorite for years too! We too have loads of issues with roads, between fires and washouts (which are often the results of fires)...Thanks for the new podcasts to look at too!
ReplyDeleteHi Yam - you do listen to some wonderful programmes ... I'd love to add them to my schedule - and at some stage definitely will get to Sherlock & Co. That road closure must be challenging - but nature is nature isn't it ... cheers Hilary
