Hari OM Considering there has to be at least three months of work in producing this, I think itt's about right: also, worth considering that such a piece is not for home collectors like myself, but for businesses with foyers/receptions, who may wish to make a statement, and for them this would be peanuts. Hari OM Ah, good question... As Mac1 and I entered that particular room the first thing that caught our attention was this 'sculpture'... and even before we noticed the blurb (we have a habit of viewing and discussing before reading, to see how we match up to the artists' thoughts) we had commented on how long it takes us to fold a paper boat as taught by our dad... and we'd actually started to count them before realising it was a bit futile. Mac1 actually stated that she thought it might be to do with the 'small boats' situation of the English Channel... well spotted, her! It's true that we would have no way of knowing that there were different papers used, but the capsized nature of the boats did present itself. Yxx
I have to think about this one. I just returned from England and the degree of political polarization shocked me. At least among the people I talked to.
Hari Om So much of that polarization is a direct result of the news agencies (and social media) incitement, which is exactly what this artwork is attempting to emphasize. We've both observed before how the human race is largely made up of those who bear a herd mentality. There are an awful lot of folk with insufficient self-driven thinking who are anchoring themselves to populist thinking. In the news when asked questions, one never hears one orginal thought, just the repetition of tropes spouted by the few big names... Yxx
my thirst thought, really it was. "I need to meet the artist and see if I could learn PATIENCE from him. I can't image how tedios it would be to fold those oats and do it so well, with ever piece the same. to me it is awesome, just the work and the IDEA of doing it. Nothing to put on my wall but I sure do like it
I’m not saying artists shouldn’t make a living but that’s an awful lot of money

It's also an awful lot of paper folding, but I question whether the art itself actually conveys anything without its 'blurb'.
