Menokreatikkul; Saturday Stitches

I was rotating some stuff in the ottoman, which acts as additional seating in The Grey. I got a surprise. Turns out there was a wee stash of oddball skeins tucked away in there. I seem to recall they were purchased at the Glasgow quilt show some fifteen months back. They were going for less than two quid for each, and each is 100 g of mainly acrylic, or other synthetic, with one or two having a minor amount of wool included. That is to say, it is not fancy yarn, but squishy and warm and ideal for making one of my random leg throws.

There are eight colours, plus two extra chocolate ones. Using a 7mm hook for loosey-goosey drape, I am working each 'layer' in different stitching, for texture and interest. And just because I can. I'll keep going until all the yarn is used. It's also a great alternative to the eye-watering, mind-searing knit of the turquoise mercerised cotton...  which is ongoing, but will not be appearing as a finished object much before Christmas!

...oh, the basket? I got that on the recent visit to IKEA; I was in for new drapes to hang on The Grey's doorways (when it comes to a decent day, I will get a photo of those!), and couldn't walk past this pretty thing. Intended as a picnic basket, I think, but perfect for projects like this!

I do tend to place my projects into different receptacles. Makes it easy to move them around, but also working yarn from one spot keeps everything tidy and mess-free. Things can look chaotic, but there's organisation to it!

  1. I wonder if I'd have the patience to do such jobs.

  2. Ohhhh I'm glad you mentioned the basket..I really like it .
And You know I a fan of different stitches in the same project and the yarns are perfect.
Last week I finally had to get a cortisone injection for my shoulder. For the first time in 10 months it doesn't hurt.
Now I'm doing PT at home. I'm afraid my crochet project was collateral damage from the shoulder. Maybe in a month or two I can start again.
