I have mentioned that I follow Toni Lipsey on her tubular channel, TL Yarn Crafts... This week, she posted a video that addresses a growing concern both for creators and their intellectual property, but also for unsuspecting buyers of patterns. I have mentioned something similar before, about all the fake, AI-produced amigurumi patterns appearing all over social media. Well, it's hardly surprising, but it's very disturbing that there's some blatant activity in the crochet and knitting wider community.
I am sharing Tony's video, starting at the 13th minute of play, where she goes into general information and things to watch out for...very practical and clear advice. However, if you have the time and interest, by all means start from the beginning and learn about the exact project from her own portfolio that got 'swiped'. She is quite forensic in her approach.
Isn't it wonderful people can share tips and tricks. What a shame about the theft of intellectual property. So few standards these days. Take care! I'm still cleaning up debris! XX

ReplyDeleteIt's a sad state we are in because of AI in the creative world. I'm very careful to only buy patterns from known sources.
