Menoloopal [men-oh-loo-pal]; the condition of being sent mental

Change.  Inevitable.

I could leave it at that and you'd pretty much all have your own scenarios to fit into it.  It's constant.  Let's face it, the body is changing every second of every day.  One cell dying to be replaced with another; less moist, less plump, less efficient.  Something to do with radicals.  The effects are radical, I know that much.

Okay, physiologically we have no choice.  Acceptance is part of the change game.

Change, for change sake, though is what gets my goat.  Aitch was chatterboxing about the same thing the other day.  Words along the lines of "*****they do this and then ********** they do that and $$$ so as to ####### you and ^^^^^…"  You get the gist.  Aitch is a placid and soothing person to be around.  Moments like this astound one.  Still waters were stirred.

With some justification.  Here we are in the hi-tek age and even the ancient and wobbly such as myself have embraced the Worldly Watching Whispering thing. It has its merits, no argument there.  Quite fun in places.  Life without it would not be ended though.  Life, indeed, in some respects, would be very much enhanced by its absence. Not gonna happen though.  It's like cellotape.  What did we do before cellotape?  Or matches.  The most important aspect, from my perspective, is the email function.  I don't do mobile telephones.  I don't have landline access.  Therefore, email is my anchor to the 'stabilisers'.

Moving to India meant adopting an online service (rather than desk/pc based).  I chose Gmail.  It was less cluttered, tidier than others I investigated.  Been perfectly happy.  Till about two months ago.

Then the subtle sledgehammer stuff started happening.  Some of you will know what I mean.  The "oh, we have a new messaging set up we think you will prefer, do try it" sledgehammer.  Couched in terms of "this will be better for you, but if you don't want to, just hit the off button".  I did that.  For several weeks coasted along happily in the status quo.  Oughta have guessed there was no REAL choice in the matter.  On last weekend of March the swap to the "better for you" setup happened without my permission.  No "this will become the norm in 3 days and counting" sort of courtesy.  No "you'll sign on tomorrow to a forced change for which we are sorry but truly believe is better for you" kindness.

Nope.  One day I knew what I was doing and where to find things and the next…  Is it better?  No it is just different. Like the leaves changing with the seasons - makes it look different, but the tree remains the same.

Only I discovered another, subtle nail-gun type amendment lurking.  Appending files now brings up another message of joy and goodness; "oh we have a new file attach system up and running we think you will like - want to try?"  Hit the NOT NOW button was my immediate response.  Knowing full well this means I am going to be forced in the near future to put all files up there in the Cloud.  They want my files stacked in their sky.

Not. Happy. Jeemul.

You know what this means, don't you.  Soon there will be a message of joy and greed; "oh, we have discovered this is all so popular we can't keep up unless you select pay now,  wanna try it?"

I may be forced to get radical.  It's an effect of menoloop.
