What's
this one about? More of a personal memo
really, as in - YAM! Kya? Do it yourself.
When
seeking to respond to questions put for essays, ensure the taking down of those
questions yourself. Even if you trust
the person who offers to write them out for you, always double check. Better still, just do it yourself.
Last week
I was nearly garroting myself because I couldn't get my head around one of the
essays. Yes one of those such as I spoke
about previously being in a list of arm's length. This one seemed to bear no relationship to
what we had been studying. After 20
months, YAM was finally struggling. Was
it such a high point of refinement that it had been missed completely? Was it that the question belonged to another
text altogether? Was it a technical language issue?
That last
one is close. When I finally caved in
and sought the help of my wee brothers, they had difficulty understanding the
dilemma. Then, it became clear; the question had been written wrongly.
The word
'shastra' had been used instead of 'sadhana'.
You, Dear Reader, can be forgiven for saying 'what the heck?' I will relieve you of head-scratching by
saying only that this is the difference between a text of basic theory versus
foundational instructions in practice.
Theory versus practice in essay terms is as different as describing the
mountains or the sea.
Once
error discovered, essay was done in under an hour.
As much as anything, here, am menoloopal with myself.
Usually more meticulous in such matters. No more 3rd party YAM. Do it yourself.

Well a lot has been said about do it yourself. Now you know why. It is not that you don't trust, if you make a mistake then you've only got yourself to blame.

ReplyDeletePUDDLES m'girl, it wasn't quite a professor but someone called as Brahmachari... this is a word with lots of meanings but you can best think of it as "Brother" like in monk. My title is Brahmacharini which is like nun.
