WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-now-views is the weekly 'less speak more peek' page where I share some of my background through pictures only.

HARI OM - 20/8/13 - SORRY FOLKS AM HAVING SOME REAL TRUBS WITH THE ETHERWOBBLES AGAIN... NO PROBLEM FOR YOU BUT I WILL HAVE TO CURTAIL MY OWN COMMENTING ACTIVITY AND POSSIBLY EVEN LINKY - BUT DO KNOW THAT I WILL BE DROPPING BY YOUR PLACE WHENEVER THIS THING COMPLIES!!!

A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS...

I have mentioned different foods over the last few months.  I thought I might share some visuals with you today!

Pooris - sort of mini chapatti, deep fried
the Indian equivalent of hot chips!  YYUUMMMMO

Here is a dish of total luciousness... Dahi Vadai.
Little fried dahl-flour donuts, soaked to lessen oil and soften them, then drowned in lashings of fresh curd (yoghurt) and dressed with tamarind and coriander (cilantro).

.........drrroooooooooooool...

Sponge dhosa; fermented rice and dahl flour
batter, fried like a pancake.  Too good!

Then there is the perennial breakfast fave, idlis and sambar.  Same batter as the dhosa, only it is steamed.  Sambar is South Indian dahl soup with lots of tomato, pumpkin, drumsticks, spices...  and it absolutely must be eaten with the fingers.

Most Indian dishes taste better for using "God's Utensils".  Hard to explain, but experience prooves it!

Whilst all the above were prepared by dhaba-wallahs or the ashram cooks, this next is all my own.

Chapattis with paneer makhan.

After all that savoury, a little sweet required, don't you think?!

Okay peeps, your turn!  Join in the linky with some of your favourite things!  Please do leave a comment to let me know if you had fun visiting.  Remember I put a recipe in on the Final Friday of each month.

Linky is open until  Wednesday 21st midnight, Mumbai time.

  1. There are several Indian dishes I like (I always ask for mild, in a restaurant) but my very most favourite of all is a drink called lhassi—so delicious! I love the yogurt with rosewater, or yogurt with mango but, let's face it, I'd eat the tires off my car if mixed with mango.
I'm sure you know what I mean, but if anyone doesn't know, Wikipedia does:

Yes Kay - one of the best things in life is a good lassi!!

Interestingly, mangoholic though I am, I don't go for it in lassi - rose, yes, or salt or just plain. I also really enjoy the much more watery chaas - 'buttermilk' which is wonderfully refreshing. xx
