What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menorganza...

No it is not an amazing new fabric.  It's the effect upon YAM when there is everything to do; it's an organisational extravaganza!!

Having finally landed in Edinburgh, I took a day to 'nest in', then had to get to the serious stuff. Setting up the altar so that sadhana could resume in some kind of routine. Setting up bank accounts.  Seeking accommodation over on the Isle of Bute and reserving train tickets...

Say what?!  Yes, I was here six days only before I took off again!!  For many months now I have been watching the property market in Scotland (well since I realised I was returning anyway!) There are a number of places where I could happily settle, but one such place kept coming into my line of sight, as it were.  It only made sense, then, to go visit it. Most other places I had been before, but this was entirely new to me.  Possibly that is important.  Returning to a homeland can have issues, so a place of as much unfamiliarity as where one has been is likely to be a good option.  Also, I have a set number of criteria to be met;
 - Semi rural setting for the peace and quiet
 - accessible by public transport so as not to have to own a vehicle too soon (if ever)
 - have a social demographic accepting of difference
 - infrastructure within reasonable distance (fire/police/ambulance...)
 - be a place which in itself can provide inspiration and be amenable to spiritual pursuit

Needless to say there is also a fixed budget and anywhere near Edinburgh is automatically out of the picture due to that.

Anyway, after all that ramble, I know you are all dying to see what is so attractive about the place. Aren't you?

Well you'll need to be a tad patient with me (yet again!).  Some of you will have noticed that we are about to be overwhelmed by an annual event.  The next three posts are going to relate to that, which I am sure you will enjoy just as much.  To give you a teaser though...

..."What exactly are we looking at?" you ask.  The rails of the Cal-Mac ferry leaving the mainland port of Wemyss Bay (pronounced Weems).

Yes.  It was wet.  Not cold though.  &*>

  4. I really liked Scotland when I was in your country but maybe a tad to cold in winter, I was there in summer.

  6. So, as is my wont, I looked up rentals in the area. One in Rothesay for what appeared to be a good monthly rate. Of course, I always like to think of visiting, and Dick has suggested we rent a place for a month or two when we travel. Of course, he probably didn't mean an island off the Scottish coast, but we shall see. Can't do it while we have Her Darling Wonderfulness, anyway, unless we stay in North or Central America.
But you have me eagerly awaiting new news.

  7. Hmmm Bute? Interesting. Been there once on a sailing holiday. Lovely coast line. I am wondering about the 'accepting of difference' bit? Is there an 'alternative' community of some sort in Rothesay? I look forward to learning more.
    Cheers,
    Gail.
