What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menotouring - exploring an old haunt

I spent most of my school life in Suffolk and a good deal of it just outside of Ipswich.  That is where I met Aitch and Our Friend and several other great pals.  Ipswich was of course the main shopping point and I have fond memories.  When Aitch asked what I would like to do with my Thursday, I said I would like to go visit the town centre again.

So after a leisurely morning and baked potato lunch, we headed off.

The thing I have always remembered and delighted in once more, is the range of architecture.

  3. The plaster (I assume) relief on the buildings is awesome. It almost seems like a fairy tale village.

  5. A nice reminder of the wealth of architecture in English towns. By comparison, so much in the north of Scotland is plain and austere.

LV - oh dear...happy tears I trust?! Tell mum to prepare herself for tomorrow's post then...8-o

Joanne - yes, plaster relief. I loved the level of preservation in evidence. Sometimes going back to places of memory can be disappointing. This definitely did not!!!

    Taffy - indeed it is!!

Bertie/Gail - mostly I agree, though of course the requirements were different as the environment is more demanding in the North...and it has it's own gems, of course!!
