What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoggling {men-ogg-ling]; checking out the neighbourhood; part 2

One of the little runs we have done is South of Dunoon to the tip of our little peninsula.

There we found not only some fabulous scenery, but the little dwelling place of Toward. There is a castle - or so we are led to believe, (all we found is a gate house sort of arrangement)

We turned round at this spot and came back along the road a bit through the village where Aitch parked and sat in the sun whilst I took off along a track to see the Foghorn House and the Lighthouse.  The first no longer in use and privately owned, the second on automatic lighty-uppy and still active, whilst the houses around it are all private.

The lighthouse is one of the many that Robert Stevenson built... for the interested, you can read about that here.

It is a great wee spot to wander about and there are lots of rock pools on the shoreline too... of course, I couldn't resist!!

  1. Sorry I missed the lighthouse and foghorn house, but your photos tell the story very well. Vicki and I enjoyed our little rest by the quay.

  2. Pretty little tidal pool. Even though the light was ominous the pictures come through well. Just another kind of day.

  4. I just love old lighthouses and this one is a beauty. I also have a weakness for little pools filled with pretty rocks. :)

  5. If that is only the gate house type thingy, I wonder how huge the castle would have been!

  6. I love your part of the world. Ancient buildings coupled with the beautiful colours - just amazing.
I'm so happy to read about your being home. I feel home, too!
