Me-Now-Views; Less Speak More Peek

A couple of weeks back, there came a flotilla - or a convoy - well ... a line of naval vessels anyhoo... I had spotted them on the marine tracker

Don't be fooled - they look like they are bow to stern in line here... but when they finally started drifting by they were a goodly 15 minutes apart; by the time the got from this position up to my view at Dunoon, another 90 minutes had gone by and the sun was high. So they all got taken through the haar as if in silhouette. Which is fitting for such shipping I suppose! I normally keep all my shipping views over on MY TAKE on Tuesdays, but this was such a remarkable thing I thought to share it here. This was not the whole of the visiting ships from all over the NATO nations - but these were all I managed to photograph.  Apart from the first, they were all minesweepers...and they are all different - look closely!

A516 "Donau", Denmark, Replenishment, 101m, 3586t.

M921 "Lobelia", Belgium, 51m

M1093 "Auerbach", Germany,

M107, HMS "Pembroke", 55m

M1063 "Bad Bevenson", Germany, 55m

 M623 "Mewa", Poland, 55m

M864 "Willemstad", Netherlands, 52m

Duly noted?  Such is the excitement round here... whatchya been doin'?

hehehehehe - guess it would look a bit like this... no, due to the presence of Faslane (nuclear subs and all) NATO tends to hold joint 'exercises' out of the Clyde... some would say it makes them feel safer............ &*/\

  16. I just wonder why the Danish use a different way of labelling their minesweepers. A instead of M. Strange. Love the photos though. I used to go to the Naval days in the Netherlands. Lots of different ships from all over would usually be there!

Yes, well, I did wonder if there was some sort of gala day that might be open to public, as I would definitely have gone along to get close ups... but could find nothing online about it. Pretty sure it was just one of those "we're mates and proving it" kinda deals... Yxx

PS the Donau is not a minesweeper - replenishment is servicing ships at see with food and fuel etc...
