WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menosoupalled; scrambled by time

.....It is two and a half hours till 'go live' and for the first time in ages I find myself without a post idea, or one at least half ready. It's usually a menosukhi on Mondays, but all this having a visitor has thrown me out of sync!!! Only insofar as I had scheduled posts up till her day of departure.... but had not allowed for a day in which to then settle and get ready on further posts. Wherever possible I attempt to be one day ahead, at the very least. Mostly the posts are scheduled up to three days ahead.

It's a Girl Guide thing, I think. Or a mother thing.... either way I seem, instead, to have spent the last three days in catch-up mode.  Tsk.

I was thinking that I would get by with using the weekly "Menoxtra" post as the Monday offering - but 'Grandma' is having etherwobblies so there is no prompt out yet. That'll teach me.

Oh well. Perhaps I'll just put a couple of piccies from the outings with the visitor. I have known Mademoiselle (Mlle) CG for many years. At first, she rented a room from me in Sydney. Three months later, she departed, but we had shared some fun times and deep conversations. An inveterate traveller, Mlle CG has discovered much of the world on board a motor bike. She is settled now in Brittany (South of Quimper).  In between times, Mlle CG lived and worked for several years in Edinburgh and, thus, is a firm pal of all the Macs, not just myself.

We had not communicated for quite some time. This happens, does it not? Life is an immediate sort of game and it is the play of things that folk will come and go.  The true bonds, though, those formed either from familiarity or commonality, never break and, as expected, when Mlle CG called to say she was in Scotland and would like to reconnect, we found that we picked up where we left off!

Being both 'free spirits', no plans as such were made. We arose on Monday morning and stuck our heads out the window and decided a drive would be in order. The weather was being less than kind. As it turned out, it was being all four seasons in one day.  More on that in due course... Here are some teaser shots... (and there - I did have a post 'ready' after all - was just letting time terrorise me!!!)

..and don't forget our invitation to Blogville!
This link will appear daily, for the month of May.

  1. The weather looks wonderful, be it so or not. More about Mlle. CG, please.

  2. The photos are beautiful. And I'm glad you've been out and about enjoying the company of the visitor. By coincidence, I was contacted today by a former lodger, a lovely American student who I last saw in 2008, just before she left to study for a PhD in New Zealand, Contact since then has been very intermittent but she's in Aberdeen for a job interview at the university so we're meeting up tomorrow evening. As you say, when you 'connect' with someone, you form a bond that can survive fairly long gaps.
    Cheers, Gail.

'Tis true - elastic comes to mind! Enjoyable, too, is to part with no sense of loss but simply valuing the time shared. Enjoy your reconnection! Yxx

  3. Always wonderful when you pick up with a friend you haven't visited with in awhile and it's like no time has passed at all. I think this is one of the signs of true friendship!

  5. I understand what you say about some people always being part of your life even if not seeing them for some time or even being in touch. You click when you first meet and it goes on from there.
Those are beautiful photos of beautiful scenery and we definitely want more and also of your time with your visitor. I wonder is it my Scottish ancestors that give me the love I have for hills and mountains and waterfalls. Could just be.

Could be Mimsie - or is it just that every human being has some genetic programming for the beautiful?! Yxx

  6. What beautiful photos with vibrant colors. I know about the kind of bond that you and your friend have. It's priceless, isn't it?

I seem to always be playing "catch up" and I rarely have any idea about what I'll post until I sit at my computer an hour before posting time. Usually, I discover that my subconscious was planning a post, and it's not as hard as it seems like it'll be to write one!

Hahah - that was certainly what happened with this one; partly the 'menosoup' because I KNEW I had all these photos to share, but forgot until I opened the tap, as it were... Thanks for dropping by! Yxx

  9. I love reading about visitors! We seldom have friends over. Most live in Ottawa and just don't want to do the drive. Happily, the kids visit us!

It's rare here too - even the family find it too much of a stretch; the cost of the ferry is a bit of a put-off.... (I'll give that benefit of doubt...!) Yxx
