WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menocraicing; having a rowdy time; BLOGVILLE RODEO DAY (1)

Awwrighty, let's get this show on the rodeo!!!

First we must all sing Happy Birthday.... to whom, you wonder? Well to none other than Tom Hanks, here disguised as the sheriff of the event!  All together now...

1     2    3

HAPPEEE BIRRTHHDAY TOO YOUUUUUU
HAPPEEE BIRRTHHDAY TOO YOUUUUUU
HAPPEEE BIRRTHHDAY DEAR TOM-WOODEEEEEE
HAPPEEE BIRRTHHDAY TOO YOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

(DEEP BREATHS...)

Okay, this is going to be a three-stage event for your entertainment during the other, more raucous carryings-on. You can keep tabs as the 'roll on roll off' bloghop fires up.

In honour of the birthday block of  Sheriff Woody, a poem by our very own Blogville Commish of Pawlice, SARGE...

Wyatt Earp cleaned up the American wild west,
I wish I had been there to give it my best.
I'd wear the proud star that a law dog should wear,
and keep it for all to see right on my chest.

I'd arrest all the outlaws and stop cattle rustlers,
and wear a white hat with my big jangling spurs.
My horse would be strong and call himself "Steed",
and we'd patrol big sky country beneath all the stars.

I think you will agree that was a fine offering from the Commish!
Now I am sure you are all familiar with the next item...

Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam,
Where the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Chorus:

Home, home on the range,

Where the deer and the antelope play,

Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,

And the skies are not cloudy all day.

Where the air is so pure, and the zephyrs so free,
And the breezes so balmy and light,
I would not exchange my home on the range,
For all of the cities so bright.

It's an oldy but at goodie! ...of course, you could always sing along with alternative lyrics, provided here by our very own boffin, the Hon.WFT Bertie:

Home by the Loch

Oh give me a home, where the Heilan’ coos roam

Where the otters and pine martens play,

‘Though often is heard, a discouraging word

‘Cos the skies are all dismal and grey.

Chorus: Home, home by the Loch

Where the otters and pine martens play,

Though often is heard, a discouraging word

‘Cos the skies are all dismal and grey.

The Gaels were pressed from this part of the west

It’s not likely they’ll ever return

‘Cos they crossed o’er the Pond, or to Australie-and

Where the midgies are not a concern!

Home, home by the Loch etc.

How often at night when there’s no moon in sight

And the stars hide behind murky cloud

Have I laid there amazed and asked as I gazed...

...Why such terrible weather’s allowed...!!!

Home, home by the Loch etc.

Jakey had a go at this one too!

In keeping with the theme of 'home', here is an Aussie country song with its own particular twist...

...thank you effurybuddy... to end this first set on the entertainment stage, we better hear from Tom-Woody himself!
