What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menolyrical; Words for Words' Sake

BLOOM

Amongst the crowd you stand out
Decked in all finery flaunted.
Gaudy and flighty and ready to tease,
Yet not so easy to please.

Another comes in imitation.
Should be flattered, but no -
Ahead of the game you have always been,
Step up the colour and gleam.

Fashion trends your currency
Your validation and esteem;
The latest in red, not yesterday's pink,
Or if seen in green you'd sink.

Black is always a safe bet
To show off your sparkles and gold.
Dashes of rainbow lift you from your gloom
As you cling on to youth's bloom.

In fullest growth still glowing,
Basking in  their admiration;
But petals don't last, dropping and fraying;
Truth is you're decaying.

By virtue of birth we die.
It is the only guarantee.
Bloom's an illusion we try to make real,
Won't stay - beg, borrow or steal.

Why not, with grace like the rose,
Accept the measure of God's rod?
Beauty exists.  It just IS.  You will see,
If, like Rose, you can just Be.

B
Being-ness, blessedness, beauty true
L

O

O
One and one alone to find (in)
M

  7. If only "grace like the rose" were as easy to put on as fashion! But I'm glad you gave the recipe for true beauty. This poem spoke to me.
