WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menosukhi Monday Ponders Smoocheroonies

This is actually a repost from the defunct TAKE TOO bloggy - originally it was prompted by Pet Memorial Day (6th Sept) last year - was on the verge of just dumping the thing, then thought better of it. There is no harm at all in repeating this message!

You should know this; YAM-aunty is very big on the hugs and kisses. Not every one is. If someone does not wish to receive that affection, we must be careful not to overdo it, not to enforce it. That does not mean the love is less. Not everyone can be demonstrative.

The variety of hugs (and indeed kisses) is large.  Books have been written on the subject.  There is the simple friendship hug, the mother hug, the father hug, the sibling hug...

"I love you brother Jasper!"
"I love you back sister Jade - but careful there, you're right on your toenails!"

Then there is the kiss of the sunlight on leaves and the hug of a bug needing reassurance of safety...

There's the little hug, the gentlest touch, which says "don't worry little one, you're okay."

Or the reassuring curve of the arm which says "I barely know you, but I can be your friend."

The little peck on the cheek which says "I mean you no harm."

...and the togetherness which only requires a murmur and knows a comfortable silence.

In a world where there is so much that can turn us 'upside down', it is the outreach of Love (with the capital "ell") which sets it right again.
