What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoloopal

As mentioned Monday, this week's a bit defocused here at the Hutch. Am having to think and plan ahead. Not that I don't do that when going off on trips and such, but this is a bit different. I am still in the Hutch, but will be a bit distracted and need to not have to make sense.

If that makes sense...

ADDENDUM; (or stop press....whateva)... didn't get called for jury. Phew. I wouldn't have minded, except, something I've not mentioned and wouldn't still if the darn thing wasn't so determined to stick around, is that have been battling sciatica for the best part of two weeks now. It's at the stage where I might actually consider leg amputation. To have had to sit for hours without movement would not have been ideal. I tell you this now not for sympathy (though a little POTP wouldn't go amiss), but to say that constant pain is a distraction in itself so if things seem a tad detached or erratic round here, it is hoped you will understand. (I know a few of you, dear readers, are familiar with this affliction; for those who are not, just think of the very worst toothache/headache you have ever had then multiply 87x and extend it from hip to toes...)

What's my menoloop though? (what?! You mean that  ⏫ wasn't it???!!!...) Well, this being Friday of last week (there she goes with her time-lapse thing again!), I opened up the dashboard for TAKE bloggy and there was a notice from Blogger that they had (oh so kindly!) added a cookies notice to it for me. EU regs and all that. Now, I don't know if you recall, but I had a menoloop about cookie notices quite some time past, (18 months to be precise!), as they were all of a sudden appearing on all your bloggies as I opened them. I even commented that it would likely be some time before we would be told it was done... but this is 'late' in the extreme!!! Silly business anyway, as everyone knows they are being tracked. It's a given if one uses the internet these days, so really... but the EU says it has to be declared, so that's why we find these things. There is some rigmarole one can code to stop the notice appearing, but then we, the blog authors, MUST BY LAW declare the use of cookies. I'm not going to bother. Let the Google version be there.

If, as a viewer, you don't want those notices interfering with the look of the pages you open, you can download a nifty little Chrome plug-in called "I Don't Care About Cookies" which I use; it isn't one hundred percent, but enough to take the frustration of constantly having to tick 'yes okay' ... you'll see from that link I just gave you that there are other plug-ins with similar use, but I am happy with this one. if you use other than Chrome as your browser, I am sure you can locate a similar bit of code.

A little reminder too of another post I did about G+ in general... you can see all my techy posts under the label 'Etherwobblies'. (NB, there is always the possibility as time goes by that one or two links may go 'sour'... not to worry, there ought to be enough info provided around any such to point you in the right direction anyway.)

I know a few of you have got your own 'tech support' or are yourselves quite adept; but there are also several of you who don't/aren't, so I do hope that these occasional posts are of interest, if not helpful.

That's it for today. Quite the opposite from the usual midweek mirth of a Menokakkul or more, but hey, variety and spice and all that...

Aw thanks guys... the main thing to remember is that Google do have good help pages and forums... but they kinda presume a reasonable tech-knowledge and it can get a bit overwhelming... even for geeks like me! Luv ya. Yxx

  2. YaYa I'm so sorry to hear about the sciatica.....it is a evil thing for sure.
Thank goodness no jury duty sitting that long might have made you want to do some harm to someone then you would have needed a trial
I sure do feel your pain and madi sends you healing kitty kisses.
I had an annual eye exam today and it was the year for dilation...B-cat says my eyes are as big as Madi's when she gets too much nip

  3. We're not having too many troubles with cookies. About the only time it becomes an issue is when mom sees chocolate chip cookies then whoa - bit trouble BOL! Mom says sciatica is terrible so we hope it gets better sooner as opposed to later! POTP for fast healing!

  4. They may have sent you home from jury duty when you were found quietly sobbing in the jury box. My whole self sympathizes.
In my state we need a doctor's excuse to opt out of jury duty. I asked for one the last time I was called. Exasperatedly, Dr. J wrote on the form, "This woman cannot walk across the street. I told you that last time."

HAH... I can imagine that... the same applies here; one requires to have a genuine and verifiable reason for not carrying out one's civic duty. Which I agree with, frankly. Am more than happy to carry out this service (did so twice in OZ), but on this occasion, I must admit, there was an enormous sigh of relief! As it happens, not to do with what they observed as the fact that they have a set of numbers and the group in which mine sat was excused as a whole. Yxx

Easy, mon ami; whilst there is a bit of me that is against the 'big brothership' which has appeared with the internet, it is important to acknowledge that no one company has driven this factor regarding cookies... they have been around a good deal longer than any of our current Biggies, mainly driven by advertising. Even the Biggies, though, are subject to laws of various states and it is the EU which has enforced the legislation regarding these notices. The cookies are actually essential to the working of the net and without them we would have even more spamming - and worse - than occurs now.... I shall write another post on this! Yxx

  7. When travelling through Europe we were constantly asked and we thought it was because we were in new countries all the time. Turns out it was the EU! Fortunately I don't live in the EU and I don't get those notices at all. But thanks for the info anyway. You never know when it might come in handy.

  10. Oh, my, yes. Bulging L5 sent me to a week of injections in 1985 due to major spasms. And the judge did not dismiss me from jury selection. So sending thoughts into the universe for your body to become relaxed and without pain. janice xx
