What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoffagainorrhoea; Bonny's Middle Land

As we headed East, at the other end of Loch Tay, we made the briefest of stops to capture an image of the Crannog. The centre was closed for the winter season, but it was still worth the little side-step.

At Aberfeldy, we were headed for the Watermill Bookstore and Cafe - just about the most perfect place to spend a while on double-dreich Scottish days!!! I did not carry the Fudge for this visit as I wished to be unencumbered... there were steps and stairways involved in the visit and I just wanted to soak up the atmosphere.

The soup and bread lunch with hot chocolate/coffee after suited our requirements and we were able to get onto the lounge seats for the latter part of our meal period. Very civilized! After this we of course availed ourselves of a perusal of the book store itself. Not a huge stock, but a very quality one. I found a Times Crossword puzzler to add to my bedside collection. At this point Gail went to walk Bertie and I took myself to the top floor, which serves as an art gallery and there enjoyed an exhibition of a Scottish artist Wilhelmina Barns-Graham. Not a lady I had heard of, but I appreciated her work, particularly the later pieces.

As I came down to the car again, Bertie and Gail arrived back from their exploration, with the news of a bridge and monument which might interest me. They did...

Wade's Bridge at Aberfeldy

Gail and I mused as to how long the 'feather' in the cap of the watchman up top was likely to withstand the elements, both thinking it would have been made of the same soft stone as the whole monument. When I enlarged the piccie, though, I noted that it appeared to be of metal and concluded it was actually a lightning conductor..... had I read the notice board FIRST, this conundrum would not have presented itself!!!

The clue was there in the last line. **ahem**  Anyhow. That was us up to 3pm again and the light was on the wane.

LIGHT??! Well, the day was on the wane. Thus we headed back to our accommodation, where Bertie met the shower and we humans partook of tea and biccies as we compared notes on our outing. Given what we had to work with, we concluded we had done rather well.

The evening down by the fire was again a hit... especially as Bertie had free running and it got even more bouncy when Gail brought in the pull-toy I had bought him earlier.

Thursday morning brought still more gloom, but not doom... we took our time with our breakfast and Bertie shared a few more special moments with Jim and Mary before we had to load up our respective vehicles and make our separate ways, they East and myself to the West.
There were still one or two precious moments, which I shall share Monday.

  1. Isn't it polite to ask the subject's permission before posting photos of him in the shower?

Oh my, Bertie, the rebuke is accepted... though I do hope on review you will see attempts were made to keep it decorous! Certainly much less revealing than sweet Addi's recent exposure... 😳 huggies in recompense, YAM-aunty xxx

  10. Isn't it always the case? You wonder and make assumptions and then right at the end you read the note and it says exactly what you had wondered and assumed. Mind you, it probably means you're a clever deducterer...
