En Garde!
If e'er there were a beauty rare,
It would be the moonlit air
Of a Hallows e'en and a bulbous face,
Full in it's silvered space.
If oft'n I've thought'n about a coffin
T'was 'neath the whiten moon-grin:
Tho' ne'er of endings, neither life's close brink,
Nor sadness did I think.
If all was seen with a silver sheen,
Glistened in that lunar beam,
Then all would be peace and silence grow loud
No more maddening crowd.
If Luna's shiny bind-ery
Did other things unwind-ery,
We could wipe the glass and see then clearly
Danger which came nearly.
If you could hear all in my ear -
Voices of warning and fear -
you'd surely spin and look at me crazy,
Staring, like all's hazy!
If'n you're thinkin' that I've bin drinkin'
Point to the moon a-blinkin'.
Watch it close - feel it's heart-stringed pull;
Now say "resist", you fool!
