WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-(k)no-wing-you-knowing-me

In the recent A-Z challenge, I found a new pal in Nupur Maskara. Her posts related 100% to my subject, but she had a very different and fresh take on it all. She posts on a variety of subjects, as will be seen by the tabs at the top of her page.

Recently she tagged me with the Mystery Blogger "award". It was first generated by Okoto Engima. I have so far managed to escape all such nonsense. This is not an award for merit or works - but one must be generous and think that the tagger thinks enough of one to ask the questions and is truly interested in the responses. These tags are really memes in disguise and - as mentioned before - I generally avoid memes also. It's not that I think they are wrong or anything; they simply do not interest me for the most part and also have sufficient material of my own to not have to be spending time on them. This is not meant unkindly. It is also true that I occasionally break out of my own fencing. As usual, there are rules and, as I have rules on my own monthly 'join in', it might be expected I'll follow them. The difference is that mine is an invitation. #6 of this set implies there's no choice for joining in, but I say there is. I will not tag others. I may, however, drop by your blog and invite you to think about sharing this 'tag'. (If you do, you should use the logo image from Nupur's page and not my naughty amendment here!)

  1. Put the award logo/image on your blog
  2. List the rules.
  3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  6. You have to nominate 10 – 20 people YAM says, do one if you want to.
  7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog - I might...
  8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
  9. Share a link to your best post(s)
Here are three things about myself that might have slipped your notice;
⚛   I first studied and qualified in computer science - and it took me to OZ and working that industry took me to the lowest point of my life, mentally and physically. That resulted in more studies.
⚚    I studied and practiced as a homoeopathic physician/remedial therapist/counsellor for fifteen years. Practising this supported another love in life, then...
ॐ  the decision was made to move to India, where I followed that love and studied to attain "Vedaantaachaarya".

To answer Nupur's questions:
1)  All the above three things constitute a fraction of me. Throughout all of them, my anchor has been writing. If at all I could be said to have a passion, wordcraft might be it. That is visible. The invisible is my spiritual connection - but now I even try to write about that!
2)  What I like best about writing is the way it helps me to clarify my thinking. Not just the stuff I put here or on other blogs, but in my personal reflections. The blank page can be the best of therapies. (Or the biggest bully...!)
3)  Biggest life change? ... Having engineered all my own life changes (bar one), I have learned that I am entirely adaptable and seek adventure. The one I didn't choose left a mark, but that too is gone. Anyone really that interested can always read the MacHistory posts.
4)  Quotes are many, but if there is one which I live by as much as I am capable it is that of Mahatma Gandhi;
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
5)  Phubbing??? I had to look up the meaning. I don't indulge in telephone activity beyond emergency and travel needs. I detest (perhaps passionately) those with whom I am keeping company all the time checking and fiddle-farting with their fones...

Nothing funny or amusing about phubbing - and is it wrong that I laughed when I saw a young fellow walk slap-bang into a bollard whilst he was so busy with his social media? Hurt him right where he deserved.

... and by that, dear pals, you learn just a little of the dark side of YAM-aunty !!!

To pick a post to point you to is not easy; decided to look at the most viewed. This one stuck out.

Now - if it interests you to make a post based on such questions, try these five;
You are given fifteen minutes to gather some items before shipping to a remote island. You pack...
1)  which three books (no e-readers. Remote. Island. Got it?)
2)  which three of the images you have on your wall or shelf?
3)  which three emergency health items? (Not just plasters, okay?)
4)  which three items of kitchen equipment? (No, not the processor, which bit of remote island passed you by?)
5)  which three personal items? (As daft as possible and nothing powered. Reminder. Remote and island.)

If you have done the Mystery Blogger thing before - or don't want to do the whole thing, just have a go at answering the five questions in comments!

  1. Oh that walking while looking at their phones etc is a pet peeve of mine too. As you know we walk every morning. Sometimes inside the mall. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to stop in my tracks to avoid a head on with a social media junkie!! And I too have laughed when one has banged into or miss stepped due to having his/her head somewhere else.

  2. I don't do these either, for most of the same reasons. and I would never ever never spend time on an island. I lost a friedn because she kept begging me to come for a week end by boat and stay with them on a tiny island just south of hear in a house with no running water or electric. I don't like water, I don't float of fly. I said no to several invites and when I said to her, why do you keep asking me, I don't do islands. that means a boat and she has not spoken in years.
