Firstly, to finish off the Tuesday 26th June visit to Felixstowe, some scenes taken from the parapet above the gun casements. It was an extremely hot day (30'C/86'F - I know Aussies and Americans are saying 'that is not hot', but this is Britain...), therefore all the images are affected by heat haze 'ripple'.
Secondly, it is most fortuitous that these images fell on this day because since starting this, word came through that today is the day to honour the lighthouses, and associated structures, of the world!!! (Well, USA, but we'll join in!) Therefore, at the end of the Felixstowe images, a few from my archives to add to the celebration.
The port authority is busy with some upgrading - and the two cranes at the nearest end are remotely controlled. Think this was a practice run, on the left!

ReplyDeleteHi Yam - lovely photos despite the heat haze ... quite understand that in England ... the technology we have now-a-days for transporting goods is amazing, while for centuries lighthouses or equivalent have kept us safe ... and here's to Lighthouse Day ... cheers Hilary

There is a lighthouse in the Netherlands that is red and white striped and for some reason I feel that every lighthouse should be red and white striped! Funny how things stick in your head!
