What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-Now-Views; Less Speak More Peek

Firstly let me say "gong xi fa cai"  to honour those of my readers who hail from China. Having been born in the year of the Pig myself, this one is a bit extra special.

Onward. Continuing the very sad offerings from the night of the eclipse. Fudge and Hisstix fought on through the speedily increasing murk... until, finally, I was forced to watch it online. The last image was taken by Hisstix and you see a final distant glimpse of the true luna at top of frame balanced against the live stream one on Voovoo the Vaio... all rather a let-down I'm afraid.

First, a comparison between the two cameras of the onset of the penumbra, at full lens stretch;

Hisstix
Fudge
Fudge then took this of the shadow proper as it took hold.
Below, first, is Hisstix's attempt at the half-moon phase and beneath that
Fudge had two attempts - neither impressing me at all, but at least the record has been marked.
...and that was that...
I have such prime viewing from my South-West facing bay window.
I could just sit at my desk and watch it up there (see that dot?)...but no...
I had to make do with virtual viewing.
Hey ho...

  1. Wow what a great view and photos. Both cameras did a nice job. We two lazy bums were in dreamland not bothering to get up for a viewing

  3. IN the first comparison, we think Fudge won out, but all your photos are always so good.

  8. Hi Yam - we had clear sightings here ... but I didn't get up and go outside, which I'd have needed to do ... sheer laziness - but a friend went up onto the Downs to see it ... lots of people up there. Your shots are good - but the view out even better ... cheers Hilary

  11. We were in Missouri during the solar eclipse a few years back. Unfortunately we were boarding a plane and were flying through the entire event.

  12. great photos! In reference to your comment the other day. Diapers were a consideration at first - Hazel was leaking at times but that has now limited itself to just sometimes at night. We have dealt with that by putting hospital pads underneath her blankets in her bed at the top of the ramp and the area at the foot of the bed where she moves to and that has limited the laundry to just her blankets. There may come a time when the diapers will be necessary (her brother Brutus wears them now)
