It is the first Sunday of the month and this year, you may recall, I am posting the images I chose for the Mac Clan calendar for 2019. Why? Well, mainly to share that with you all, but also to take what inspiration there may be available from the images.
It may seem premature to have included crocuses in the February page. However, around here, despite February often being the coldest month, the rawest, most damp, most severe, the hardy spring bulbs somehow always manage to shine forth. This image was actually taken in February 2018, so it is accurate to its month.
Snowdrops, primroses, crocuses. All these gorgeous wee blooms smile through the harshness and the gloom of winter. They remind us, in case we had forgotten to lift our heads and see, that daylight is stretching out again, that when the sun does peek through, it is warmer and softer once more.
In a word, they are HOPE. They offer the promise of better times to come and provide the example that keeping our roots deep, undisturbed and well-covered, we can weather anything that life may toss our way.

Ohhhhh YaYa how timely...Bryan just came in from the mailbox told me we have a daffie head popping thru the ground near the front lantern. No bloom yes but our red Camellia is in bloom
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the photos each 1st of the month
Hugs HiC
Looking out our window we think it will be May before we see blooms. Thank you for the colour.
ReplyDeleteWhen the snow out front melts, I know I will see all all the spring bulb leaves again. They looked so hopeful in December, and will be so when the snow leaves, again.
ReplyDeleteMom hopes that groundhog is right and we get an early Spring, but one without mud:) The crocuses are beautiful as is your photo.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
I checked my flower bed below my window...Nothin.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Lovely post - I especially appreciate the last sentence.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post! Spring flowers are such a gift after a cold winter.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those symbols of hope! It is incredible that they pop up in February. I just planted amaryllis bulbs inside my house to help us to make it through until April when our cacti are the first to bloom!
ReplyDeleteLike Bouncing Bertie said, that last sentence touched my spirit.
We are far from seeing anything bloom around here but are cheered up by your beautiful crocus flowers.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, it is hope. I love looking at our friends blogs in Aussie land and N.Z., as it is encouraging! Freezing drizzle here. Yucko.
ReplyDeleteSpring is my favorite season! The promise of renewal, of hidden potential, of earth awakening and life-force stirring. Here is hope. I always welcome the growth and the returning of light. It is so wonderful to NOT go to work and come home in the dark. I LOVED your mandela yesterday.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your journey
Love Barb
Your photo and words speak truth.
ReplyDeleteThat gives us hope that spring is on it's way!
