Well, a few of you who follow Bertie Boffin's bloggy will by now have discovered that he and his hyooman, Gail, travelled to meet up with me in Edinburgh last weekend. What a joy!
After arriving at the father's place, we ate lunch and caught up on some chat. Given the spate of summer weather which had preceded their arrival, it was disappointing but predictable that Saturday was deteriorating fast, so I urged them out the door once more and we headed up to Blackford Hill. Windswept, to say the very least. It is worth the short trek up to the viewpoint though - 360' panorama. Some rather famous landmarks, of course. Such as Arthur's seat and the Crags (above), and the castle...
Bertie had a wonderfurs time, meeting and greeting several other dogs. There was a particular attraction to Rupert, the six-month-old mini-Schnauzer pup (who was already full size and whose heritage might pawssibly beg a question...); sadly my photo of that was not so good. Mainly because there was significant speed going on! The meeting with 'Petey' - a definite Schnauzer - was a little less frenetic, however.
Following this viewing, we drove round to the pond at the foot of the hill. Well worth the visit, as there were a good variety of water birds on show (for the excited YAMster) and good walking for Bertie to lead Gail along.
We had only just piled back into the car after this when the heavens truly opened. Downpour is a mild term. Nevertheless, I thought we would take the opportunity to drive into the Queen's Park and the full circumnavigation of Arthur's Seat - another first for my visitors.
Mac2 had arrived to share the weekend also, so we called Mac1 over for the evening to join and we had a merry crowd for dinner. Father was enjoying all the different and lively conversation.
