What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menovisital - entertaining callers part the second

Up early on Sunday morning, this happy company took a leisurely pancake breakfast, cups of tea and pleasant chatter. Despite strong winds, the day was bright, so I packed some picnic items and bundled my visitors into Li'l Ren for a trip along the East Lothian coast.

We landed first in North Berwick. More by accident than design, due to inattention to turn-offs. Happy circumstance, though, for we found a perfect park and were able to wander around the little harbour, view some interesting sculptures... and partake of some yummerlishus icecream.

Directly after this, we drove a little more to reach the Aberlady Reserve. By the time we got there, it was a bit of a shock to find that we might not have a park (though there was a magic space when we turned in), and that the once welcoming reserve now banned dogs altogether. While I got the camp stove working to make our tea and prepared the picnic, Gail and Bertie took a quick 'constitutional' along the road. After lunch, she and I headed over the bridge and into the reserve proper.

Buffeted. Bullied. Battered. Blasted.

It was windy.

The path was well-formed and quite easy for my difficult legs. There was shelter in the thicket of sea buckthorn and as we progressed, the wind did start to weaken. Which resulted in the cloud becoming lowering. At about the half-way point to Gullane beach, I turned back and let Gail complete the route. By the time I was back at the car park, she had been and gone and caught up with me!

Back into Li'l Ren and then a 'scenic route' ride back to the flat. We came into a flurry of vacuuming and strong smell of moth repellent. Mac2 had discovered an invasion of the cloth-munching critters in the guest room, so had used this as leverage to spring clean the father - poor fella was nearly as pale as the walls! All a bit sudden for him - but all to the good. I got busy in the kitchen and food is the salve of much.

On Monday it was time for farewells; Mac2 early, G&B after morning tea with Neighbour M.

Father and I had a quiet day on Tuesday!

  5. I do understand the feeling of the failure of legs. Mine, which have begun to recover, will never come back to snuff. I could have made it half way with you, and returned to little Ren in exactly the same time. We take what we have, eh?
