What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoffagainorrhoea; Suffolk Sojourn Days 3 and 4

A random sunflower in Aitch's yard - bird planted seed?
The Sunday and Monday of my brief trip were spent staying around Aitch's home. This was partly due to the incredible heat (low 30s centigrade both days - very different to how it feels in the Great Down Under Parts and rather overwhelming); partly due to Aitch wanting to get a bit more done towards decluttering and preparing for her grand move; then partly due to me feeling a wee bit off-colour (possibly with the heat, but also just the way this body goes sometimes).

There was plenty to keep us both occupied, Aitch with her listing and clearing, and me with my writing and reading and being the occasional help to Aitch. I prepared Sunday lunch which used up a goodly number of the incredible crop of tomatoes from the garden. That passata, with steamed veg and pasta and cheese crumble added was delicious - because the ingredients were superior! We also listened on the edge of our seats as the last day of the third cricket test between England and Australia went right down to the line.

I also took the opportunity to walk around St Peter's for one last visit. When Aitch departs, it really will be the end of an era for the village.

Then there were the birds and the bees and the fields and the trees - and some amazing sunsets.

  4. Seeing the old grave yard I have now traced my ancestors to Scotland to Roger Kirk surgeon in the English Army and fought in the 1556 Scottish Rebellion. He was born 1602 • Skelton Parish Yorks, England. 10th great-grandfather. His one son migrated to Jamestown Alphonsus Kirk March 29th 1689. So here I am now with a President who says he was at 7-Eleven on this horrible day in history. Go figure.
