What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.
ST ANDREW'S DAY "If we strive for goals, relishing in the pleasure of circumstance, nothing is enjoyable, and life becomes purposeless" (Andrew the Apostle)
Hari OM the point here is not that we shouldn't strive for goals - it is the nature of the goals and our expectations of them which makes the difference in whether we create a life of meaning, or simply a life of want and disappointment. Even material goals, made with a spiritual (altruistic, if you prefer) intent will be to our good. If set up an expectation of happiness and personal gain, we will often be left only wanting more and never being satisfied or content with our efforts. Goals - good. Coveting the fruits of the actions and achievement of those goals - not so good! Thanks for a comment which expands the conversation &*> Yxx
I am glad you wrote this because I read this last night and the meaning of it wasn't as clear. I thought it was because I was tired and have been sitting with it. This was helpful in sorting it out for me.
Hari Om Well, thank you for returning to ponder more! As Hilary says in another comment, the goals are fine, but we must not lose sight of the 'now'; being with the doing rather than the getting. Yxx
I am the opposite of KB, never been goal oriented. even with my weight loss I did not create a goal to reach, but started living in each day as it came and making small changes. for me a goal makes me fret over it
Beautiful quote and so true
