Menoizikul; Midweek Musicalisms

This month I bring you voices; specifically, those of The King's Singers. I have been listening to this group since the 1960s. They established in 1963, but only about 1968 became a settled lineup which lasted about five years. Subsequently, there have been rolling changes, but always six voices and always male. These are singers who are at the top of their...voice. Competition to become a member must surely be fierce!

Let us begin with a very short, bright piece from the voices of 1983;

  1. Gosh its a long time since I heard the King's Singers. I have to admit that, while I admire the perfection of their performance, their music has never yet grabbed me on an emotional level.
    Cheers, Gail.

      Yes, I understand what you mean - it's partly due to the shortness of each piece with not quite enought time to 'delve', possibly. That said, the items sung also feed into that. There are a couple this month which I hope will reach a little deeper! Yxx

  2. They are new to me. Love the harmony
    Hugs Cecilia

  3. it's great... and such kind of music is never dated..

  4. Beautiful! I will have to look up more of the King's Singers. It's most enjoyable!

  5. Hi Yam - they are great aren't they ... love hearing them ... take care - Hilary

  6. Bright, happy sounds from the humans! namaste, janice xx
