As mentioned last week, have resorted to views in the father's home to make some different offerings. Today, only three things, but they deserve a few words with them.

I cannot actually tell you about the duck or the coaster. I CAN tell you the little ornament with the headless man is made of balsa wood and is part of a whole set that we once had. It was obtained during our time in Nigeria. We have the head. Just need the glue. The picture is of my grandmother at 14 yrs (on the left) and her step-sister. I am definitely of that line! |

This is one of the Nigerian gatherings; a tourist piece and one of the gazillions made. It is, though, one of the better quality items and we are all rather fond of it. It stands on dad's bedroom windowsill. |

Mother bought this teapot in Australia when she first got there. It reflects that late 1980s look! It is in good service still and Mac1 and I were saying to each other last week, we cannot imagine how we get through our days without it being filled at least twice a day! |
I agree you do so resemble Grandmother...amazing isn't it how the genes and genetics kick in from years gone by.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tour around to see the lovelies...and trinkets
Hugs HiC
I enjoyed seeing these...specially the picture.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny but I resemble all the females on my mother's side and so did she and so did her sister and my grandmother's Five Sisters we all have that same look. What a difference in 14 year old girls today and that 14 year old picture of your grandmother
ReplyDeleteKeep this up I like looking at all the things they have collected. I like that rhino
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs a good teapot. Glad you are getting to use that one so much.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely resemble your grandmother - we can see it.
Such lovely pieces, and beautiful memories to go with them!
ReplyDeletePerfect old stuff.
ReplyDeletethat are wonderful memories ... and we love things what remind us of a time what is gone.... we have two headless ducks, our granny got it as a boyfriend dumped her and she beheaded the two poor wooden ducks with anger... but they are still there as a souvenir from the past LOL
ReplyDeleteLovely photo and my, what a strong resemblance to your grandmother. Is that paternal or maternal side? Family resemblances are fascinating. It always amused me that when I went into visit my father in hospital or care home I was so often immediately recognised as 'David's daughter' and likewise later on when I visited my mothers its was 'oh you're obviously Maureen's daughter'! Perhaps the rather depressing conclusion is that I just look old. Certainly feeling it after spraining my ankle when out walking Bertie on Sunday afternoon. As if the ongoing local lockdown here in Aberdeen wasn't painful enough...
ReplyDeleteCheers! Gail.
Love the memories and the photo of your grandmother and step sister is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYes, wonderful pieces. I know you have your hands full. The memories are precious. xx
ReplyDeleteThey are all wonderful creations and love how much tea you drink ~ ^_^
