Men-or-two At Work

Do you recall this post? It's worth going back for a look so that the following has some context.

After all that work, the hydrant cover started to collapse into the road. It was a proper hazard to traffic and complaints were made. (NB all following images have been taken from our front room through double-glazed windows, so not the best...)

After several weeks, finally, the following took place...

We hope and pray this is just a 'bandaid' until the proper road crew can be drafted in. That metal plate does not sit evenly on the surface and every vehicle that hits it going by rocks it, and the sound is like a gunshot. It reverberates around the buildings and keeps all and sundry aware that traffic is pretty much back to full flow post-lockdown.

...first word issues!!!

  2. That looks like a very minor bandaid for all the equipment they brought. Hope the traffic lets up a LOT at night so you can sleep.

  3. I had missed the sewage post, but read it just now. And goodness me, they certainly bring out the big guns for something they barely do anything about. Will they come back and fix the road at all, or is that just a massive hope on the part of all the people who have to listen to gunshots the whole day long?

  5. Yes, getting anything done, and done right, seems so hard right now. I hope that metal plate is temporary!

  8. We know all about Band-Aids on hold like that because we have one of those in our front street right in front of our house and we went through the same thing that loud gunshot every time something went over it. I hope yours is like ours and that they do come back and fix it properly. I'm wondering if your dad enjoyed watching all that was going on out the window
