Stop. Look. Listen.
...but we forget to do it, don't we?
Even when we know better.
Even when it's what we have gone there to do...
It takes effort.
It takes effort.
It takes consciousness to stop (with intent),
to look (and see),
to listen (with focus).
It can be tiring to relax.
It can exhaust to be present.
Practice builds stamina; makes perfect.
Practice builds stamina; makes perfect.
It's worth the effort.

Looking across Holy Loch to Ben More.
Yes it does take patience and I have to constantly remind myself to slow down.. My Annie Ma had a favorite question when folks were in a rush. She asked, 'if they had medicine to take..if not slow down.'
ReplyDeleteI hope your trip back to they Hutch was uneventful
Hugs Cecilia
so true so true... especially the present can certainly exhaust which causes us to forget to do this. I wish for you for the next few weeks and the new year that you will be able to stop.look.listen.
ReplyDeleteOh Yamini, thanks so much for this...I have printed it out to display and look at it. It has been so hard to be "present" lately.
ReplyDeleteSending love and hugs to you and your siblings today, and wishes for a safe trip back to the hutch.
Very wise advice - now to heed it:)
ReplyDeleteIt's so simple but can be so hard.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right. What a beautiful scene and I love that bench.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does. We are baffed.
ReplyDeleteI do stop. And then I am on the move again to find somewhere else to stop. Looking and listening may not necessaily happen in the same place.

Beautiful view ... must be wonderful in sunnier warmer weather - but love the bench and looking out. I sincerely hope yesterday was peaceful and you are content in the quietude of being ... stay safe and with thoughts - Hilary
ReplyDeleteIt is something I am working on every day.
ReplyDeleteLove the bench, the view and the quote! That looks like the perfect place to view the world!
